Parking with TWINT: saving you a trip to the ticket machine

How much time have you lost waiting in line at the car park ticket machine? If you use TWINT, there’s no need to queue at the ticket machine and your parking fee will be charged to the exact minute. What’s more, you won’t have to waste time rummaging for change or a card in your wallet. Regardless of whether you’re in a multi-storey car park or a public car park, Switzerland pays for its parking fees with TWINT.

Park in public car parks and pay with TWINT

You can use TWINT to pay for parking fees at almost every public car park in Switzerland. Start the parking session in your TWINT app or scan the QR code on the parking meter.

Starting the parking session in the TWINT app

At almost every public car park, you can start your parking session and pay in your TWINT app. You don’t need any change and you only pay for time that your vehicle has been parked in the parking space – even if you end the parking session early.

How it works

Open your TWINT app, tap on “Parking” and select the parking zone

Spin the wheel to set how long you expect to park for

Tap “Next” and confirm the payment

Scanning the QR code at the meter

Alternatively, you can scan the QR code displayed on the parking meter and start the parking session this way. If you leave the parking space early and end the parking session in your TWINT app, you will only pay for the actual amount of time your vehicle was parked.

How it works

Scan the QR code at the meter

Spin the wheel to set how long you expect to park for

Tap “Next” and confirm the payment

Park even easier and quicker and only pay for the time you are parked

These tips will save you time and money:

  • If you are parking for the first time with TWINT (or you are using a different car than you normally would), enter your car licence plate number
  • Approve the use of location services in your smartphone’s browser to ensure that you can choose a parking zone
  • If you want to leave the car park earlier than planned, cancel the current parking session and we will credit your TWINT account with the difference between what you paid and what you should be charged

Parking in a car park and paying with TWINT

It’s never been easier to park in a car park. With the ticket with QR code, you can validate and pay for your parking ticket with the app without having to worry about licence plate recognition. We have developed and implemented these innovative parking solutions with our partner Digitalparking.

Paying in a car park with the QR code

With the ticket with QR code, you can validate and pay for your parking ticket directly in your TWINT app. There’s no longer any need to go to the ticket machine, queue for a long time at the pay window or search for change or a card. The time you spend parking is automatically calculated and charged to the exact minute once you leave the car park. You can use the ticket with QR code in over 200 car parks. And this number is continuously rising.

How it works

Paying with the ticket with QR code is easier than counting to 3. Scan the QR code on the reverse side of the ticket with the TWINT app, approve the payment and you’re done! All you have to do afterwards is insert your ticket into the machine when you leave the car park.

Parking in car parks with licence plate recognition

You can drive into and out of a car park with a licence plate recognition system without taking a ticket or having to worry about anything. The car park barrier opens as if by magic and the parking fee is automatically charged to your TWINT account. All you have to do is activate licence plate recognition in your TWINT app. You can manage all the settings easily in the app.

How it works

Open your TWINT app and tap the “Parking” function

Tap the car symbol and activate licence plate recognition (you only have to do this the first time you use the function)
