How it works: take out insurance in 3 steps

Open your TWINT app and tap “Insurance” under “Partner functions”.

Select an insurance policy, calculate the premium and enter your personal details.

Check all your details, confirm your selection, pay the first premium with TWINT and you’re done.

All of the insurance policies are provided by Würth Financial Services. To ensure that we can extend your insurance cover without any interruptions and charge the premiums to your TWINT account, you will need to activate standing approval in your TWINT app.

Good to know: the “Insurance” function is not available in every TWINT app.

FAQ: Insurance in TWINT

Who can take out an insurance policy via the ‘Insurance’ function?

In principle, anyone who lives in Switzerland and is at least 18 years old can take out an insurance policy via the “Insurance” function. Please note that insurance can only be taken out in your own name. However, many of our insurance products offer the option to include additional people living in the same household in the insurance policy. To activate this extended coverage, select “Household” protection when taking out a policy. In some cases, it is also possible to include people from outside your household.

How does the payment process for insurance premiums work?

The insurance premium is paid via the TWINT app. To allow for this payment to be made, automated payments must be activated in the app. Depending on the insurance product, the premium will be charged either on a one-time or monthly basis, with the first charge occurring immediately after the contract is concluded.

The authorisation of automated payments can be adjusted at any time in your TWINT app’s menu under “Automated payments”. You can find further details here.

Where can I find an overview of the insurance policies I have taken out via TWINT?

  • Go to the “Partner functions” section in your TWINT app and select the option “Insurers”. The 4 most frequently used additional functions are displayed here. You can view a complete overview of these functions by tapping “Show all”.
  • You will now be redirected to the “InsurHub” web application of our partner Würth Financial Services AG.
  • Tap “My insurance policies”.
  • An overview of all of the insurance policies taken out via TWINT will now be displayed.
  • Tap an insurance policy for further information about the individual policy. You can now take a number of actions, such as report a claim, edit your personal details, download your policy and the General Terms and Conditions of Insurance (GTCI) again or terminate your insurance policy.

How do I report a claim?

You can report a claim directly in your TWINT app under “Insurance”. Under “My insurances”, open the relevant policy and tap “Report claim” after the product details. You can attach claim documents directly in the app. Once your claim has been submitted to the insurance provider, you will receive a confirmation e-mail. The insurance provider will deal with your case as quickly as possible.

Where can I amend my personal details?

You can amend your personal details via the menu by selecting “My profile”. Once you make changes, they will be automatically applied to all your active policies and your policy documents will be updated on the next premium due date. There is no need to inform us or the insurance company separately.

How do I cancel my policy?

You can cancel a policy directly in your TWINT app under “Insurance” in the “My insurances” section. Tap on the policy and scroll down to the “Cancel insurance” button. Please note the minimum duration of your contract.

Why have I been sent a payment reminder or dunning notification?

You receive a payment reminder when the monthly premium payment was not successful. This usually happens for 1 of 3 reasons:

  1. Insufficient credit in your TWINT app or your spending limit has been reached: Make sure you have enough credit, and you have not reached your spending limits in the TWINT app. The charge will be attempted again automatically.
  2. Automated payments with TWINT deactivated: Reactivate automated payments for your monthly premium payments. To do so, open the TWINT app and tap the “Insurance” tile under “Partner functions”. Then tap the three-lines icon in the top right to open the menu and go to “Automated payments”.
  3. You changed your TWINT account: If you created a new TWINT account, for example due to a change in your bank account details or phone number, please contact us immediately on 044 723 44 04 (Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to midday and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.) or by sending an e-mail to [email protected]. We will be happy to help you restore your insurance policies.
