Phishing e-mails

Time and again, fraudsters try their luck by sending emails that are forged to make you think they have been sent by TWINT or your bank. Neither TWINT nor our partner companies will ever ask you to share sensitive data such as your password or personal information with them. Do not click any links and make sure to delete the e-mails. You can also report phishing emails and phishing sites online.

Fraudulent calls

Be sceptical if someone calls you and pretends to work for TWINT or your bank. Neither we nor our partner companies will ask you to disclose sensitive data over the phone. Hang up immediately if a “support employee” asks you for your password or asks you to block or authorise a payment in your TWINT app.

Forged letters

The latest scam is fake letters that pretend to be from TWINT. The fraudsters ask the recipients to scan a QR code and enter their personal login details on the linked website. Never do this! Instead, throw the letter in the wastepaper bin. Remember: Only ever scan TWINT QR codes with your TWINT app to make sure that you remain secure in the protected TWINT environment.

The basics of staying safe

If you follow these 3 tips, you can pay and send money securely with TWINT:

  1. Protect access to your TWINT app with the fingerprint sensor or facial recognition
  2. Reject all requests that ask you for your login details
  3. Do not share your personal TWINT SMS codes with anyone

Call your bank immediately in the event of fraud

Have you fallen victim to fraudsters despite being extremely cautious? Contact your bank immediately and tell the support employee as precisely as possible what has happened. You can find your bank’s contact details here.
