TWINT appoints Michael Eidel as Chief Commercial Officer

TWINT is consolidating its sales, marketing and market development into a single commercial organisation, which will be headed by a newly created position: the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO). Michael Eidel will take on this role from 1 September 2026, also becoming a member of the Executive Board.

In recent years, TWINT has established itself as the leading payment app in Switzerland. With over 6 million users, integration with more than 70 banks and 80% of merchants, and an ever-growing network of partners, TWINT is currently in a strong position.

To further expand this position and capitalise more effectively on opportunities arising from collaboration with banks, merchants and other partners, TWINT is consolidating the areas of sales, marketing and market development into a single commercial organisation. The newly created role of Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) will be responsible for all market- and partner-facing activities.

Michael Eidel will take up the position of Chief Commercial Officer on 1 September 2026, joining the Executive Board. He has many years of experience in strategy, financial services, and corporate management. Having held senior roles at prominent international management consulting firms and financial institutions, he most recently served as CEO of a Swiss fintech company. In his new role, he will oversee sales, marketing, and the company’s commercial development.

“With Michael Eidel, we are gaining an accomplished manager with substantial strategic and operational experience. Well-established in the Swiss finance and fintech ecosystem, he brings with him the entrepreneurial expertise needed to merge customer needs, strong partnerships and scalable services into a sustainable business model, drawing on previous roles in Switzerland and abroad. Consequently, he is ideally placed to help us expand our market position. We are delighted to welcome him to our management team,” says CEO Markus Kilb, highlighting how the appointment strengthens the company’s operational leadership.

The new commercial organisation will take on end-to-end responsibility for market strategy and positioning, marketing and sales, and developing customer and partner relationships. By consolidating in this way, TWINT is aligning its management structure systematically with the company’s strategic objectives. As well as simplifying users’ daily digital lives, the focus will be on creating added value for merchants and expanding into the sectors billing and direct debit. To achieve this, TWINT is strengthening its ability to bring innovations to market faster, expand partnerships further and to continue to offer customers innovative solutions within the TWINT ecosystem.

The roles of Chief Sales Officer and Chief Marketing Officer, which were previously separate, will be combined in the new CCO role. As part of this change, Adrian Plattner (Chief Sales Officer) and Jens Plath (Chief Marketing Officer) will be leaving TWINT to pursue new opportunities after many years of highly successful work building up the company. Over the coming months, they will support the transition to the new commercial organisation.

“Over many years, Adrian Plattner and Jens Plath have been instrumental in shaping TWINT with their exceptional commitment, professionalism and entrepreneurial foresight. They have played a key role in establishing TWINT as Switzerland’s leading payment platform,” says Markus Kilb, TWINT’s CEO, who extends his sincere thanks on behalf of the entire Executive Board for their tremendous dedication and invaluable work.
