FAQ
How can I top up my credit in the TWINT prepaid app?
The following three methods can be used to top up your credit in the TWINT prepaid app.
Direct debit
Amounts of up to CHF 200 can be topped up via direct debit without a waiting period. This is only possible, however, if you have an account with one of the banks listed here and are of legal age. In this case, the amount is pre-financed by TWINT AG until the money is received by us from your bank. Amounts in excess of CHF 200 are credited to you as soon as TWINT has received the money from your bank account (this can take up to 4 working days).
With direct debit, you can top up your TWINT prepaid app with money taken directly from your account. Tap the blue plus symbol (+) next to the credit display at the top of the app and tap your bank’s logo. Enter the desired amount and confirm by selecting “Top up credit now”.
To be able to use this function, you need to link your account on a one-time basis first. Tap the blue plus symbol (+) next to the credit display at the top of the app and select “Bank account”. Now follow the on-screen instructions. This account will subsequently be used to top up via direct debit.
Deposits
You can set up a payment for this using the e-banking or mobile banking service of your bank. Topping up your TWINT prepaid credit by transfer can only be done in Swiss francs (CHF) using the Swiss QR IBAN and the relevant individual QR reference number. In addition, SEPA payments in EUR cannot be processed.
Procedure: Tap the blue plus symbol (+) next to the credit display at the top of the app and select the “Deposit” option. You now have the option to copy all data for the transfer in mobile banking by tapping the copy symbol on the right. Alternatively, you can request a QR bill to be sent to your email address. To do so, tap the button “Send QR bill” and follow the instructions on the screen.
You will then receive an e-mail containing a deposit slip with a QR code. The QR IBAN and QR reference number on the deposit slip can also be used for a bank transfer in your e-banking.
You can also set up a standing order or use the same QR IBAN and QR reference number multiple times. You will receive a notification as soon as the money has been received by TWINT. The money will be credited to your TWINT Prepaid account one calendar day after the execution date of the deposit (value date). If a deposit is made via e-banking, the execution date is the day on which your bank account is actually charged. If a deposit is made at a post office counter, the execution date is normally the next working day after your deposit.
Important: If you register in the TWINT prepaid app again, you must order a new QR reference number for topping up credit, as each QR reference number is allotted to a specific TWINT prepaid account. To do so, simply follow these instructions again.
Credit Code
You can buy credit codes at Swiss Post as well as at Coop supermarkets, Jumbo, Fust, Coop City (food and non-food) and in the stores of Interdiscount. Open the TWINT prepaid App. Tap on "Pay" at the bottom. Point the smartphone camera at the QR code or enter the credit code. The credit is immediately available in your TWINT App.
Direct connection
The following banks offer a TWINT app that provides the option of establishing a direct connection to your bank account.

To find out the limits for the TWINT app offered by your bank, please contact the TWINT Support team of your respective bank.
There are different limits in force for the TWINT prepaid app. These limits are required by law or we have introduced them for your own protection.
In some instances, these limits may contradict each other. Where this is the case, the lower limit applies. Example: Although a user may top up and receive CHF 10,000 in their account, the maximum credit they can have in their TWINT account at any one time is CHF 3000.
All of the limits are saved in our system. Were a transaction to exceed a limit, the system would automatically reject it.
Maximum credit
The credit available in your TWINT prepaid account must never exceed CHF 3000. Top-ups and incoming payments that would cause this limit to be exceeded will be automatically rejected.

Can I use more than one TWINT app?
Yes, you can.
You can install and use more than 1 TWINT app on the same smartphone, such as the TWINT prepaid app and the TWINT app for your bank, for example.
If you have an account at two different banks, you can also install and use both TWINT apps.
If you use more than one TWINT app, please note that you need to define one of these apps as the standard app for receiving money.
If you have any further questions about using multiple TWINT apps, more information on this topic is available in the “Related topics” section below.
I have forgotten my PIN for the TWINT prepaid app. What should I do?
For your own security, you have to set up a PIN in the TWINT prepaid app when registering (this is a 6-digit PIN made up purely of numbers and not a password). In the “General settings” > “Security” section of the menu, you can also activate biometric authentication instead of having to use a PIN. The use of this function depends on whether your device supports it.
Please take the following steps to reset your PIN:
- Open your TWINT prepaid app.
- Tap “Forgotten your TWINT PIN?” beneath the TWINT PIN entry field.
- Confirm that we should send you the PIN via e-mail.
- We will send a security PIN to the e-mail address that you specified as a security contact during the registration process. As a reminder: When specifying a security contact during the registration process, we recommend selecting an e-mail address that is not linked to the smartphone on which you use TWINT.
- Tip: Should you not have received an e-mail within five minutes, check your spam folder.
- Once you receive the e-mail containing the security PIN, you can go back in the TWINT prepaid app and enter this security PIN there.
- You will now be prompted to create a new individual PIN and you then be able to use the TWINT prepaid app again as usual.
Why can I or one of my contacts no longer receive money?
The sending and receiving of money between TWINT users are also subject to set limits that are defined individually by each bank.
To find out the limit set by your bank for the TWINT app, simply contact TWINT Support team.
You can see all the limits for sending and receiving money with your TWINT prepaid app directly in the app. You can find detailed information on all limits in the TWINT Prepaid App here.
Please note that you can only use the TWINT prepaid app to send and receive money to and from other TWINT users once you have successfully been identified as a new user. This identification process may take a few working days.
Another possible reason why a TWINT user may temporarily not be able to receive money anymore is the temporary deactivation of the “Receive money” function due to inactivity.
If you use more than one TWINT app with the same telephone number, you must set one of these as the standard app for receiving money. Further information on this topic is available here.
In order to find out the exact reason why someone can no longer receive money, the recipient must contact the Support team for their TWINT app directly.
