Worldline investment in TWINT successfully completed

After the closing on Friday last week, Worldline now holds a 20 % stake in TWINT. The transaction, which was announced in May this year, was conducted as part of the strategic partnership between SIX and Worldline. TWINT – Switzerland’s leader for mobile payments – is strengthening its position thanks to the international partnership. Worldline is the European market leader in the payments and transaction services industry.

As part of the strategic partnership between SIX and Worldline in the card business (merchant acceptance and acquiring and international card processing), Worldline is acquiring a 20 % holding in the Swiss mobile payment solution TWINT. The existing TWINT shareholders, namely Switzerland’s six largest banks and SIX Group, will maintain their shares in TWINT.

Søren Mose, Chairman of the TWINT Board of Directors: 'We are looking forward to an exciting working relationship with Worldline, our new shareholder. We thus now have an international partner on board who is an advocate of a cashless society. Even though our focus is currently fully placed on Switzerland, this cooperation will open up completely new perspectives for the further development of TWINT.'

'It is pleasing to see how TWINT has developed in recent months. We are convinced of the potential offered by the Swiss mobile payment solution and will support the successful expansion of TWINT', added Gilles Grapinet, CEO of Worldline.
