How do I split an amount between friends?
The “Split” function allows you to split amounts between yourself and other TWINT users.
Let’s assume you would like to split CHF 100 equally with four other TWINT users: this function would divide CHF 100 into 5 payments (for you and your 4 contacts). Your 4 contacts will subsequently each be sent a payment request for CHF 20. You will pay the last CHF 20 yourself. You will then receive CHF 80, provided that all four of your contacts accept the payment request.
You can select the function either via the “Request and split” button on your home screen, or by tapping an already executed payment in your transactions overview and then tapping the “Split this payment” button in the details that are displayed underneath.
Via the “Request and split” button on the home screen:
- Tap the “Request and split” button on your home screen.
- Now tap the “Split amount” option in the top-right-hand corner.
- Enter the amount to be split.
- Enter a title. The recipients will see this title as a message in the transaction.
- Select the contacts with whom you want to split the amount in question.
- The amount will be split equally by default. You can also set the way in which the costs are to be split by entering it manually. Alternatively, why not try shaking your smartphone and see what happens next?
