Here at TWINT, 2022 was a year of numerous exciting developments, useful new functions as well as growth in all areas. Read on for a few highlights:
New in the TWINT app
After being released in the summer, our Parking function has allowed users to drive into, use and then drive out of a multitude of car parks without a ticket. This was all possible thanks to licence plate recognition. As part of this process, the barrier opens automatically and the parking fee is charged in the TWINT app upon leaving the car park.
As of recently, TWINT users have also been able to access more than 500 digital experience vouchers. The “Gift experience” function allows users to purchase a wide range of experiences such as hot-air balloon trips, wellness weekends and Sunday brunches, and give them to others as gifts directly in the TWINT app.
Another new feature in the app is the “Mobile comparison” function, which allows users to find the mobile network or Internet subscription package that meets their needs quickly and easily and then order it online. It is also possible to change providers in just a few taps of the screen.
New among the banks
We are delighted that 11 additional banks launched their own TWINT apps this year and are thus offering their customers a direct connection between their bank accounts and TWINT.
This year’s new additions include some of the most well-known cantonal banks in Switzerland, various regional banks as well as a non-traditional digital bank.
New among the merchants
As of this year, TWINT is now able to be used as a payment method at merchants such as Globus, McDonald’s, Zalando, Lidl, Denner, Just Eat, Hotelplan, ifolor and Tchibo.
Whether it’s in traditional retail stores or in online shops, TWINT is becoming more and more widespread as a payment method. According to a recent study carried out by the ZHAW, approximately 77% of all traditional retail stores and 76% of all online shops offer TWINT as a payment method.
Further highlights
In September, we set up what was probably the biggest shopping trolley in Switzerland at Stadelhofen train station in order to highlight the fact that TWINT can also be used to make large purchases. The installation drew the attention of a large number of curious and interested passers-by.
At almost the same time, our TWINT shop went live. This event focused on top-quality products that make everyday life easier in the same way that the TWINT app does. Ranging from the award-winning coffee mug from Fellow to the beach towel made from recycled PET bottles, there was something for everyone.
We are also honoured that the Interessengemeinschaft Elektronische Medien Schweiz (IGEM) nominated us as one of the fastest growing digital brands in Switzerland as part of its study into media usage in Switzerland.
And finally, TWINT was selected as one of the best employers in Switzerland by the Swiss Employer Award last week. This award is a special honour for us, as it attests to the fantastic team spirit, great working environment and the capacity for innovation at TWINT.
