TWINT with further major national partners

From autumn 2018, TWINT will be offering its now more than one million users thousands of additional acceptance points: the Migros Group has integrated the Swiss payment app in the cash registers of all of its supermarkets and six of its specialist retail stores as well as online. SBB will initially start with TWINT on SBB Mobile and SBB.ch. Nespresso is also counting on TWINT. Over recent months, many other nationally significant providers have also opted to put their faith in TWINT.

Since the end of October, it has been possible to pay with the TWINT app at more than 800 locations and around 10,000 cash registers of the Migros Group. Migros has thus expanded its use of the TWINT mobile payment solution. In addition to the Migros supermarkets, the payment solution has also been integrated in the cash registers of the melectronics, SportXX, DO IT + Garden, Micasa, Bike World and Interio specialist stores as well as online. Until now, it has only been possible to save TWINT as a payment method in the Migros app.

‘With the introduction of TWINT at the payment terminal, Migros is taking a customer request into consideration,’ says Fabrice Zumbrunnen, Migros CEO. ‘This will offer even more customers the benefits of mobile payments.’

From 5 January 2019, the more than 1.26 million customers who use the SBB every day will also be able to pay via TWINT. To begin with, this service will be available on SBB Mobile and SBB.ch. It will also be possible to use TWINT at ticket machines and travel centres by mid-2019.

‘SBB is thereby meeting the rising demand of customers to pay for their tickets using the Swiss TWINT app,’ wrote the company in its announcement on the SBB.ch blog.

Nespresso will also roll out TWINT as a payment method in its online shop and at its Nespresso boutiques by the end of 2018.

In recent months, further nationally significant providers such as Ochsner Sport, Sprüngli, Fleurop, DeinDeal/My-Store, Terre des hommes, Tamedia and Chicorée have decided to put their faith in TWINT. The number of TWINT acceptance points has now increased to over 75,000.
