Current phishing wave: Fraudulent e-mails are currently circulating in the name of TWINT requesting confirmation for a supposedly new device registration abroad. Please be careful – these are phishing attempts.

TWINT launches 3 new innovative services: the Business Portal app for merchants, Express Checkout and the Payment Link

With a new app and a wide range of payment options, TWINT is creating further added value and is increasing flexibility – for both TWINT merchants as well as for the more than 5 million users in Switzerland.

Over 80% of Swiss merchants allow their customers to pay with TWINT, the most popular payment app in Switzerland – whether it's via the payment terminal at cash registers, in online shops or using the TWINT QR code stickers at market stalls and in farm shops. Swiss retailers that offer TWINT rely on a simple, secure and accessible solution for digital payments – and in doing so remain independent from the global tech giants. TWINT is now making collecting payments even more straightforward for merchants, as 3 new functions offer merchants and users additional convenience:

1. The new TWINT Business Portal app is the control centre for all TWINT transactions. Using this app, merchants have complete control of their business, regardless of where they are or the time of day. If the merchant wishes, the app can provide real-time updates about all incoming payments via push notification.

    • Everything at a glance: in the app, merchants can quickly view the revenue generated by their stores, successful and cancelled transactions, and the average transaction amount. Transactions are listed in chronological order. With just a tap of the screen, users are taken to the detailed view where they can obtain further information.
    • Always up to date: in the settings menu, merchants can define whether they want to receive a notification for each individual payment. For example real-time push notifications on smartphones, smartwatches and tablets can alert merchants about each transaction.
    • Flexibility with team management: employees can be assigned different roles. They are then able to receive push notifications on any number of devices and have access to the transaction overview.
    • Additional functions: further useful functions will be added to the new TWINT Business Portal app over the coming months.

2. Online merchants can now offer their customers the TWINT Express Checkout, thus making online shopping even faster and more convenient. By tapping TWINT Express Checkout, users can send their delivery information saved in the TWINT ID to merchants and trigger payment right away.

    • It's now really easy for TWINT users to create a TWINT ID with their delivery information (name and address) and save it securely in their TWINT app. In this process, the information is stored on a secure server in Switzerland.
    • If merchants offer TWINT Express Checkout, their customers can send them the details they have saved in the TWINT ID with just a tap of the screen and pay with the TWINT app.
    • The tedious process of having to create customer profiles and fill out forms with names, addresses, etc. for every purchase is now a thing of the past. Customers can complete their online shopping by simply tapping TWINT Express Checkout and then confirming the payment – without even needing to have a customer account with the merchant.
    • TWINT Express Checkout is available for merchants that use the Magento, Shopware or WooCommerce shop systems.

3. The TWINT payment link makes it easier than ever before for merchants to collect payments via various digital channels. All customers need to do is tap the payment link and then go through the usual payment process in the TWINT app.

    • Registered TWINT merchants can now create a TWINT payment link in the merchant portal with just a few taps of the screen and then send this to their customers via digital channels such as an e-mail, newsletter or WhatsApp message in order to collect payments.
    • The customers simply tap the payment link and they will be transferred to the TWINT app to make the payment.
    • The payment link allows merchants to collect payments in e-commerce transactions – even if they do not have their own online shop.

TWINT is continually evolving: the new functions and additional ways in which to use the app prove beneficial to the over 5 million users and also to merchants. TWINT thus provides an ever-increasing number of tools to ensure a smooth and convenient shopping experience. While customers pay seamlessly, retailers gain a boost to customer loyalty, increase their completion rates and ultimately generate greater revenue – and without the need for any complicated technical integration processes. It’s simple, quick and secure.
