Switzerland’s six biggest banks on the market with TWINT

As of today, four further major Swiss banks are offering their own version of the Swiss mobile payment solution TWINT, following in the footsteps of UBS and Zürcher Kantonalbank. Clients of Credit Suisse, PostFinance, Raiffeisen and Banque Cantonale Vaudoise can now also benefit from TWINT apps that allow for payments to be debited directly to their accounts. TWINT thus further establishes itself as Switzerland’s digital wallet for a wide range of uses.

As of today, the TWINT app is available to clients of four further major Swiss banks: Credit Suisse, PostFinance, Raiffeisen and Banque Cantonale Vaudoise are introducing the payment app that allows for payments to be debited directly to the user's bank account. The TWINT apps of UBS and Zürcher Kantonalbank have already been available since April. This means that Switzerland’s six biggest banks are now offering their own TWINT app to clients.

Benefit of different bank apps

The benefit of the TWINT bank apps: the clients' account with their principal bank is connected directly to the app, meaning that the topping up of credit is not necessary. Alternatively, clients can save a credit card.
The TWINT prepaid app remains available: with this solution, users can top up their credit via a bank account held with any one of 32 regional or cantonal banks or using a credit code.
The use of all TWINT apps is free of charge for consumers.

Cashless payments with friends – and more

Thanks to TWINT, transfers between the bank accounts of private individuals can be made in a matter of seconds. TWINT can also be used to make secure and convenient payments in online shops without having to enter security-sensitive data. From this summer, users will be able to pay with TWINT at around 25,000 additional payment terminals in Switzerland. If desired, customer loyalty cards can already be activated for all app versions, with stamp cards and coupons being added on a gradual basis.

TWINT has been downloaded more than 550,000 times. At present, TWINT payments can be made at more than 25,000 acceptance points online, in shops and at vending machines.
